High-stakes showdown tomorrow as Jharkhand CM Soren faces ED interrogation

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren are set for a face-to-face encounter on January 20, as the CM is scheduled to be interrogated in connection with a land scam case. The ED has made comprehensive preparations for the questioning and has alerted the police headquarters to ensure the security of its officials during the process. In a letter to the police headquarters, the ED emphasized the need for tight security arrangements on the interrogation day to prevent any security-related issues or disruption to law and order. Consequently, the Jharkhand Police Headquarters is actively working to enhance security measures in Ranchi, where the questioning is expected to take place.

Ahead of the CM's interrogation, the ED is also scheduled to question Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner Ramniwas Yadav on January 19, relating to an illegal stone mining case and allegations of threatening an ED witness. The ED had previously conducted raids in this case on January 3, recovering ammunition, cash, and documents from Yadav's office in Sahibganj. As the ED's preparations for questioning CM Hemant Soren reach completion, the focus is on unraveling the details of the land scam case involving the illegal purchase and sale of Army-occupied land in Ranchi. The Chief Minister has responded to the eighth ED summons by granting a time slot on January 20 for the interrogation.
